Why Pre?

Act before it’s too late, before you begin rather than at the end

Improve odds of success

Make it safe to talk about potential failure and for people to speak up

Be prepared to mitigate risks

How to conduct a pre-mortem

Go over the plan with the team

Declare that “we have failed big time”. Ask everyone to think of every reason why the project has failed and write it down

Build a list of reasons for failure collecting input from each member

Review the list and finds ways to improve the plan and increase odds of success
